I don't know how many times I can say "I love my job." Let me just say that the absolute best perk of printing gig posters for a band or venue is getting into the show for free, especially since I'm a music junky. I'm really looking forward to this Friday's Carolina Chocolate Drops show at Granada Theater in Dallas, and thanks to the promotions department for liking my work enough to continue designing posters for their musical guests.
The image for the poster is from an old family photo I found in a great little vintage shop just outside of Waxahatchie, TX. There was nothing written on the back of the photo as to indicate who the man is, or where the photo was taken. It looks to be from the early 1940s, which fits well with the vibe of the band. Again, the poster serves as another fun exercise in playing with halftones. I also like the color scheme of this one. The poster has a very tiny print run of only 35, signed and numbered, and I'll have just a handful available for purchase after the concert. Until then, enjoy some of the detail pics below.
