It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year...
'Summer's almost gone', like The Doors song suggests, which means it's about to be the busiest time of the year for Napkin Art Studios.
Earlier this week I received notification that I was selected as one of the many vendors for Etsy Dallas' "4th Annual Jingle Bash" happening November 19th. I'm thrilled for several reasons, as this is my first year to be a part of Etsy Dallas, not to mention this will be the first ever art and craft show to participate in. I'm excited and nervous at the same time! There is a lot to do in preparation for the event, like making promo stuff for goodie bags, finishing up designs to make prints, ordering and printing tees, as well as figuring out how to make it all work in a cohesive display. I'd like to make this a success as I hope to do more of this kind of thing in the future.
Before all of that goes down work for my upcoming "Cowboy Movie" art exhibit needs to get underway, which will more than likely happen starting next week, after I finish up another painting commission. I still have yet to figure out how many paintings to do for the show, and the portraits to paint, but it'll all come together soon. "Cowboy Movie" opens the first or second week of October.
Right off the heels of "Cowboy Movie" I'll also be working on new work for a group show that was booked today, as a matter of fact. The as-of-yet-titled three man show will open on Saturday, November 12th at Gallery Bomb, Dallas' newest hip gallery in historic Oak Cliff. I'm sure I'll be burning the candle at three ends again come November, but I'm no stranger to stress, intense deadlines and severe lack of sleep. I think it's in my genetic code.
Life may or may not get back to normal after 'Jingle Bash' happens, as the holidays will be right around the corner. Usually, I'll have a a few holiday painting commissions to tackle right up to Christmas, but we'll see. I may actually have some down time to enjoy the holiday season (or perhaps I may have just jinxed myself in saying so...)
Anyhow, aside from all of the scheduled awesomeness currently on the calendar, It's really exciting to see how much the silk screen side of the studio's business has grown this year. There are several more print projects on the books over the next few weeks, and as more business comes in I'm definitely seeing the need to expand, not only in swell art/print offerings, but in space too. Before too long the workload will be too much for just me to handle. The goal (which is currently being worked on, too) is to set-up a separate brick-and-mortar studio/gallery (more on that later!)
Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, November 19th for the "4th Annual Jingle Bash" from 1-8pm. The first 50 people through the door will receive promotional goodie bags filled with stuff from all of the participating vendors, which have been mega-popular in the past. I plan on doing something really special for it this year. (Click on the flyer above for more details on this year's 'Jingle Bash'!)
More studio and art news coming soon!
