The Summer might be scorching and bringing life outside to a molasses pace, which I've been completely guilty of the last few weeks. However, the pace in the studio is picking up again and lots o' activity is a-brewing.
New from the studio are my "Marionette Betty" silk screen prints, one version in red and yellow, the other in shimmery gold and teal. Over all, each print measures 20.5" x 14" printed on bright white Finch 100lb cover stock. (I really dig this paper. Has a nice weight to it, and absorbs my water-based acrylics pretty darn well.)
The design initially started out as work for a gig poster job I recently had, but as some things happen during the design process, the design eventually didn't work at all as a gig poster. So, I figured I'd print the design anyway and use it for my own benefit. And here we are. I always love the color combo of red/yellow/black, as is evident with many of my prints and paintings. However, I liked the idea of a companion piece for the print, so I printed a different color-way in gold, teal and black.
Both prints come signed and numbered, though the red and yellow edition is limited to 30 copies while the gold and teal version is limited to 15. (Frankly, I'll admit I don't like printing metallic inks that much right now, as I find them difficult to print. Most of the time, the ink will dry quickly in the screen mesh, so I'm always having to work harder to print with metallic inks, forcing the ink through those tiny little mesh holes. Aside from that, the final result still looks sharp. It also explains why there is only 15 copies of the teal and gold version, haha.) Should you be inclined to pick up one or both of these new tasty prints they are now available on my Etsy webstore.
This coming week, which also starts the last month of Summer (finally), I'll be working on making a few other prints that have been in the design queue for some time. It's time the work gets 'out there' and seen, plus I'm secretly stock-piling work for the upcoming holiday season. I've got my eye on Etsy Dallas' 4th Annual Jingle Bash in November! Be on the lookout for new color-ways of my "Shutter & Shiver" flower/camera print along with a few other treats.
There is more news to share this week. Stay tuned...
