Looking back on the last few months "We Are Modern" was such a great show to start 2011 with, but as George Harrison once said "All things must pass."
I feel as though I'm reaching a new creative stride artistically and I'm happy to be able to continue to capitalize on this momentum a bit with a new group show entitled "No Trespassing", featuring myself as well as photographer Hal Samples and painter Kevin Fougerousse, debuting at The Cameron Gallery on Saturday, July 9th.
I'll be working on about a half dozen new paintings for this exhibit, continuing with a few more larger works on canvas and possibly wood. There were a few ideas I wished to explore during "We Are Modern" that I didn't get a chance to, so you may see some of those manifestations in this upcoming exhibit.
As you can see by the monochromatic picture in the middle of the advert I do plan on creating at least one self-portrait for the archives, something I don't often normally do. "No Trespassing" sort of serves as the idea about not always being emotionally available to everyone every time. I look at this self-portrait image as my 'inner Lou Reed'; dark behind the glasses and not always wanting to be read. Oftentimes, I'm very approachable (however, told otherwise) yet there are moments when it's better not to come over to this side of the fence.
Anyhow, I look forward to seeing how the exhibit comes together, and look forward to many more new and familiar faces attending opening night.
