Made a visit to my publisher to review the proof for the forthcoming book today, and I have to say it looks killer! At left is a sneak peek at the front cover; a cloth hardbound binding with a swank cutout window in the center.
During my meeting I also selected a final paper stock for the book, and chose a nice, bright white paper specifically designed for photo prints. I think it'll make all of the images really stand out.
The final page tally will be 66, a surprising figure as I wasn't sure I could fill that many pages with all the content I had on hand. Again, I managed to surprise myself at my abilities to get shit done.
Last on the bill is to finish the handmade silk screen print that will accompany the book, as I wanted to include some original art in with the book itself, sort of as the 'icing on the cake', so to speak. It's my way of saying 'thanks' for investing some of your money into my work, and allow me to carry on with what I absolutely love doing.
I'll be signing copies of the book at The Cameron Gallery on Friday, May 13th from 6-9pm - 1414 Dragon Street, Dallas, TX 75207. It'll also be a great opportunity to check out the remaining work before the exhibit comes down and moves on to new venues.
This entire show has been such a pleasure working on since December 2010. I'm sad to see it come to an end, but I look at what "We Are Modern" became and I know this is only the beginning. Come help be send off "We Are Modern" in style on Friday the 13th!
