"We Are Modern" Update...

There's no question that my latest exhibit, "We Are Modern" is definitely a success. This week has been spent working on a couple of new paintings in addition to what was created prior to the opening reception. The piece to the left is one of the new additions, entitled "We're For The Dark" (Acrylic & Silk Screen Ink on Wood / 23" x 16" / 2011).

I had hell of a time thinking of a title for this one, but settled on "We're For The Dark", a title that shares the same name as one of my favorite Badfinger songs from their "No Dice" album. Painting two is still in the works for this weekend's encore during the Dallas Art Dealers Association Art Walk, otherwise I'd drop a preview of that painting, too. Let's just say that it'll be the first time I've ever painted actress Faye Dunaway...

In other "Modern" news...I met with a publisher yesterday to talk specifics about the book I'm getting together for this exhibit. There is a lot of work to be done between now and press time, but I think the work will be well worth it. It's almost as much work as the paintings themselves, in a very short amount of time, however I'm thankful I won't have to do everything. I can relinquish a little bit of control over this project. Still need to pin down a few collaborators within the next week to start bringing everything together.

Well, the rest of the week is still bearing down on me, but there is definitely more to come soon. Stay tuned, folks!
