"We Are Modern" Interview And Book Release Info...

Well, seems like my latest exhibit, "We Are Modern" has been  great success for me. The swell folks at Art This Week, a really great and informative art blog based in Dallas, was kind enough to interview me a couple of weeks ago about the exhibit, which you can see here. It gives the public a little insight to the show, the influences behind some key pieces and where the direction of the work has come from the last few years. (Despite the bulk of the show was created in about four months time, the subject matter and technique had been pieced together and focused from about seven years worth of experimentation.)

My apologies if I sound like a dork on film. It's not often I talk about my work in front of a camera, haha.

The exhibition catalog finally gets a release date of Friday, May 13th during the closing reception at The Cameron Gallery. I'll be spending the bulk of this week editing the last bit of copy and photos in order to deliver the content to the publisher next week. It's a really quick turnaround on this project, but it's coming together nicely, and the icing on the cake for this  entire exhibit will look great in print. The picture above is a behind-the-scenes peek of my studio work table during the making of the show. Copies will be available through the gallery during the closing reception and through the studio afterwards.

All in all, the book will total about 50 pages and have a nice, red hardbound cover with a cut-out window in the center, featuring all 13 paintings, detail shots, work-in-progress pics and a long form interview by me talking about the exhibit in detail. The first edition release will (probably) be limited to 100 copies, and will include a special edition, signed and numbered hand silk screened print exclusive only to the book's release.

I have to extend a huge thanks to The Cameron Gallery for helping me produce the book, which will serve as an additional tool to my ever-growing self-promotional arsenal. It's exciting to know this is the first of two books to be released by me this year. Yes...two books! (More details on book two later.)
